Reclaiming the Goddess

‘Reclaiming the Goddess is a series of photographs based on stories told to me by my Scottish grandmother’s kitchen fire. These stories were full of powerful, enlightened women, inspiring the creation of these contemporary interpretations. Storytelling is how we understand our complex relationship with the world and through these retellings we can reconnect with our ancient foremothers. Performed specifically for the camera in a studio environment these images are as much a performance as a document.

The work won the prize of European Photographer of the year and was exhibited widely across the UK and Europe.
